Running Martial Arts Scuba Diving Surfing Skiing Sailing RunningI haven’t always been interested in running as a regular activity, though I have run from an early age, racing, for example, the local bus via shortcuts, on the way to primary school. I haven't excelled as a runner yet, just enjoyed it. The highlights of my running 'career' include the London Marathon in 2006 (not a good time, training only once a week, but what an experience), the London Marathon in 2007 (Wow!), the London 1/2 Marathon in 2004, training runs in Central Park, San Francisco and Calgary (in the foothills of the Rockies) and the Swineshead 10 in 1986.
Training is a solitary experience now, difficult to fit into a working week. However, I am looking to reduce my average running time to 7/8 (I wish) minute miles, averaged over a 10 mile course. Best running partner to date has got to be Glynn Creamer during the 80's. He was a good, solid runner with a great sense of humour which helped with all those miles of training. Memories of our first attempts (since school) at sprinting, whilst in our early 30's, still bring a smile. We did laugh.
